about

Awake in Fields of Albion is the missing link between the self-titled original (AF024) and If the Answer Comes in Dreams... (AF041) Originally scheduled for release on two different labels at different times the material has had trouble finding a home due in part perhaps to its uncategorisable nature. Built from a base of layered guitar improvisations the pieces eschew regular structure evolving organically. Like the eponymous city from the movie "Dark City" this dense sound-world morphs between electro-acoustic drone, textural abrasion, minimalist glitch and surprising bursts of melody. Guest interjections from Briony (Mr Maps) Luttrell help draw the work towards structure while Paul Forbes-Mitchell (Hetleveiker) helps rip those structures apart. Transcending any kind of scene or particular sound pallette this is a recent work that I am most proud of.
